McLean Hospital enjoys a long history of helping individuals with psychiatric illness lead fulfilling and productive lives. Individuals may receive their care in a number of clinical settings, depending on their level of acuity. Inpatient stays are for brief management of psychiatric illnesses. Treatment is designed to meet the patient's individual needs and may include individual, group and family psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, education and/or rehabilitation services. Partial hospitalization and acute longer-term residential care are available to individuals who do not need the security of a locked, inpatient unit but require more than conventional outpatient therapy. These forms of treatment allow for a flexible combination of individual and group psychotherapy, intensive case management, psychopharmacology and activity programs.
