McLean Clinical Evaluation Center specializes in the assessment and stabilization of individuals in acute psychiatric crisis. Upon arriving at McLean, patients receive a thorough evaluation that helps staff members determine an appropriate level of care and an initial treatment plan. Those who are admitted as inpatients receive specialty follow-up care, including a full range of expert psychiatric services, such as pharmacology and behavioral interventions. Individuals not admitted as inpatients to McLean may be referred to the hospital’s network of residential, partial and outpatient services.

24-Hour Services
- Psychiatric patient evaluation and stabilization for individuals in crisis.
- Transfer to specialty inpatient units when appropriate. For those admitted to the inpatient service, provision of expert consultation and follow-up with referrers.
- Access to internal medicine, neurology, neuroimaging, laboratory, radiology, EEG and EKG services, as needed.
Staff
The Clinical Evaluation Center’s dedicated, multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, advanced-practice nurses, licensed nurses and social workers are specifically trained to diagnose and treat individuals in psychiatric crisis. Mental health specialists greet patients and family members and provide support throughout the admissions process. Patients will find that staff members provide caring and individualized treatment.
