Pavilion Library |
Amidst a lovely, tree-filled campus in Massachusetts sits one of the nation's preeminent psychiatric facilities, McLean Hospital. Just eight miles west of Boston, McLean's suburban setting offers a unique opportunity for people with behavioral health issues.
When McLean Hospital opened its doors in 1811, it was the first psychiatric hospital in New England and just the third to open in the United States. Ever since, McLean has been at the forefront of both the treatment and study of mental illness.
Whether it was as the first psychiatric hospital to set up laboratories to study the psychology and biology of mental illness or as a national innovator in research on brain function, McLean Hospital is a pathfinder, leading the way toward a greater understanding of how the human mind works in health and illness. McLean perennially is the most successfully funded private psychiatric research facility in the country and its heritage of groundbreaking mental health research is brought to the fore every single day to the benefit of each patient. McLean's long tradition of innovation is focused on solutions to the special needs of the individual. In its more than 180 years of service, McLean has treated thousands upon thousands of individuals. McLean understands what matters - addressing the personal needs of each patient.
