The Short Term Unit offers a comprehensive and focused evaluation for individuals with acute psychiatric illness who would benefit from a brief hospitalization. A multidisciplinary team consisting of a McLean psychiatrist, social worker, expressive therapist and professional nursing staff, works with each patient to develop treatment plans tailored to his or her specific needs.

State-of-the art biological and psychosocial treatment interventions are utilized to improve a patient’s condition and enhance his or her wellness and well-being. The inpatient team also has at its disposal an array of consultants and diagnostic services that can be prescribed on an individualized basis. Comprehensive treatment and after-care planning begins at the time of admission in collaboration with the patient’s community supports, including family, friends and professional treaters. All are actively engaged in the treatment process to assure that stabilization and healing continue after the patient has left the unit to pursue varying levels of outpatient care.

McLean accepts Medicare, Massachusetts Medicaid and many private insurance and managed care plans.
