RESEARCH STUDY RECRUITMENT

Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder

Dr. Shinn is recruiting individuals with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder for a MRI brain imaging study on auditory hallucinations. You need not have auditory hallucinations for the study; both individuals with and without hallucinations are encouraged to participate. Individuals who are actively using substances, individuals who have had electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in the past year, and those with neurological illness are ineligible to participate. Individuals with any metal objects in their body (e.g., pacemakers, shunts, aneurysm clips, metal implants, prosthetic devices, catheters, shrapnel, etc.) and pregnant women will also be excluded. The study takes approximately 3 hours and involves a diagnostic interview; a urine pregnancy screen; a urine drug screen; a 45-min brain MRI scan (with no functional task); and a 10-min debriefing interview after the scan. Payment is $75. Please call Dr. Shinn at 617-855-3053 if you are interested.
